I used the following items to construct a portable, high performing soldering station that runs on Makita 18V batteries:

• SEQURE MSS12 Pro soldering station
• makita battery adapter
• missile switch (technically 12V but it works fine with 18V)

I have used this in many different scenarios, including from within a moving vehicle.
